James B. Nutter, Sr. Appointed to World War I Centennial Commission

Senate Chooses Veteran to Help Commemorate 100th Anniversary of WWI

U.S. Army Veteran and mortgage banker James B. Nutter, Sr. was recently selected by the U.S. Senate to serve on the World War I Centennial Commission, a blue-ribbon panel tasked with planning the nation’s celebration of the 100th anniversary of the “Great War”.

The special 12-member Commission was formed when President Obama signed the World War Centennial Commission Act in January 2013. The Commission has already begun meeting, and with good reason - beginning in 2017, scores of world governments will begin celebrating the 100th anniversary of World War I and the United States is expected to play a major role.

“I am honored to serve with such an esteemed group of colleagues, many of whom are fellow Veterans.” said Mr. Nutter. “When you start to review the history of World War I, you are immediately struck by the incredible heroism that our U.S. soldiers displayed on the battlefield and the ultimate sacrifices that many of them made. The least we can do as a country is to honor their service with the same dedication they demonstrated during that terrible war. And we intend to do just that.”

Mr. Nutter is a U.S. Army Veteran who began his service at the end of World War II. Upon returning home, Mr. Nutter founded James B. Nutter & Company, a national mortgage banking firm that has been making VA Loans to America’s Veterans since 1951.

Mr. Nutter has since turned the reins of the Nutter Company over to his son, James B. Nutter, Jr., who has continued the Company’s rich tradition of helping families, especially Veteran families, achieve the American Dream.

“My father’s record of service to our country and America’s homeowners speaks for itself.” said Nutter, Jr. “Our Company has always stood for the values that have made this country great - life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It’s a great honor for him to be chosen to celebrate the soldiers who fought to preserve our way of life. I’m proud of him.”
