Should I buy a house?

Without question, one of the best benefits for our service members continues to be the VA Home Loan Program, which has enabled more than 20 million Veterans achieve the American dream of homeownership.

Buying a house is a big commitment and deciding if you’re ready or not depends on a lot of factors. Do you plan to live there for at least five years? Do you have a stable income? Are you planning on any major life changes, like starting a family or changing jobs? It’s important to examine your current situation and how it could change in the future. What can I afford?

First and foremost, decide how much you want to spend on housing each month. Remember to consider other costs that could affect your overall monthly budget like car payments, student loans, or child care – everyone’s situation is different. The most important thing is to find a monthly payment that you’re comfortable with.
